Fall-o-ween Jesus

Series Overview

In our "Fall-o-ween Jesus" series, children are learning what it truly means to follow Jesus every day. We're talking about how God call us to live in obedience to His commands and to love others the way He loves us. Each week, we'll explore what it looks like to grow in Christlike character and for our actions to reflect the heart of Jesus.

Walk by Faith (Like Jesus)

Lesson Overview

Children learned that faith means trusting God before seeing the outcome. They learned that our faith grows as we hear the Word of God. Through Jesus’ example in John 11:38-44 (Raising of Lazarus), they saw that faith begins with praying and believing what God says is true before His promises are seen. Children played a “sound guessing game” and declared how much faith they had in their guesses. This activity reinforced that faith begins by trusting what we hear. In the same way, we can trust what we hear from God’s Word, just as Jesus trusted the Father and believed His promises before He saw the miracle.
Foundational Verse:
You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.
Matthew 21:22 NLT

Series Memory Verse!

1 John 2:6 NLT
Nursery: Those who say they live in God should live as Jesus did.
Preschool & Kids: Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.

From Sunday to Everyday

Keep the Conversation Going at Home

Our heart is to partner with you in nurturing your child’s faith. We believe discipleship begins in the home, and when families talk about God together and involve Him in daily life, it makes a lasting impact. These simple ideas can help you keep the conversation going throughout the week:

Hear God's Word together:

Choose a few Bible verses that reflect some of God’s promises and declare those together over your family each day this week. Talk about how hearing God’s Word helps our faith grow.

Faith before sight:

Play a short “guessing game” at home. Have one family member close their eyes while another makes a sound or performs an action (e.g., snapping, jumping rope, clipping nails) for them to identify. Talk about how we cna trust God even when we can’t see what He’s doing.

Pray with Faith:

When your family prays together, encourage your child to say one thing they’re believing God for (big or small) and then thank God for hearing their prayer, even before they see the answer.

Discuss:

Ask your child specific questions about Sunday’s lesson and discuss as a family. These can be easily incorporated in your day-to-day routine, such as in the car, during dinner-time, or right before bed. Here are some sample questions that may help jog your child’s memory about what they learned in church:
  • What does faith mean?
  • How did Jesus show faith in the story of Lazarus?
  • What’s one thing we can trust, or have faith in, God for this week?
